Squared Up Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 November 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Blazing Iron Software (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Squared Up mobile game (the “Game”) on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
Blazing Iron Software (ABN 58 703 036 275) is responsible for the information described in this policy. You can contact us at support@blazingiron.software.
The Game does not ask for your name, email address, or any account with us. It contains no advertising, does not use your device’s advertising identifier, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Crash reports
If the Game crashes or reports an error, it sends a crash report to Unity, which provides the Game’s diagnostics service (see section 3.1). Each crash report contains:
- technical details about the Game and the error
- your device’s model, hardware, and operating system
- your installation ID (see section 2.5)
Crash reports do not include your name, email address, or payment details.
Purpose: to find and fix problems with the Game.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the Game working.
2.2 Purchase records
The full version of the Game is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Game connects to them through Unity In-App Purchasing (see section 3.1). When you start a purchase, and when it succeeds or fails, a purchase record is sent to Unity containing:
- the product, its price and currency, and the store’s transaction ID
- your installation ID and an ID for the current session
- your device model, operating system version, language and region settings, total storage space, and when the device was last started
- on iPhone and iPad, Apple’s identifier for vendors, an ID that is the same for all apps from one developer on your device
Unity may also work out your approximate country from your internet connection.
Purpose: to process your purchase, restore it on a new device, make sure the same purchase is not processed twice, and report sales to us.
Legal basis: to provide the purchase you asked for.
2.3 Problem reports and other emails
The Game’s Report a problem option opens your email app with a message to us. The message is prefilled with the Game’s version, your device model, operating system, and screen size, whether you own the full version, and your installation ID. You can edit or remove any of this before sending. If you email us, we also receive your email address and anything you choose to write.
Purpose: to deal with your report or request.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in supporting our players, and any request you make of us.
2.4 Information stored only on your device
So that it can work, the Game stores the following on your phone or tablet:
- boards in progress and completed games
- game progress, such as the largest board size you have reached
- settings, such as sound volume and appearance
- whether you have purchased the full version
- when the Game last asked you to rate it, so that it does not ask too often
This information does not identify you and is not sent to us. Uninstalling the Game deletes it from your device. If cloud backup is on, a copy is also kept in your own cloud account (see sections 3.2 and 3.3).
2.5 Your installation ID
The Game is given a random installation ID when it is installed. It is a 36-character code of letters, numbers, and dashes, such as 1a2b3c4d-5e6f-7a8b-9c0d-1e2f3a4b5c6d, and it is not your device’s advertising identifier. The same ID appears in crash reports, purchase records, and problem reports. It is shown in small text at the bottom of the Game’s About page, so that you can give it to us when you ask us to find or delete your information (see section 7). Uninstalling and reinstalling the Game gives it a new installation ID.
3. Third-party services
The Game relies on the following services. Each handles information under its own privacy policy as well as this one.
3.1 Unity
Unity Software Inc. (“Unity”) provides the engine the Game is built with and two services that receive information from it:
- Unity Diagnostics receives crash reports (section 2.1). Unity processes them only on our behalf, as our service provider.
- Unity In-App Purchasing receives purchase records (section 2.2). Unity processes them on our behalf to run the purchase service. Unity also uses transaction records for its own purposes, such as financial reporting, meeting legal obligations, and preventing fraud, and for those purposes it is responsible for them itself.
Unity does not use this information for advertising or to track you. See Unity’s privacy policy for game players.
3.2 Apple
On iPhone and iPad:
- App Store purchases are made and paid for through Apple. We never receive your name, payment details, or Apple account information. The Game receives only confirmation of whether you own the full version.
- iCloud backup: the Game backs up your saved games, progress, and settings to your own iCloud account so that you can restore them on a new device. This data is stored privately in your account, and we cannot access, read, or delete it.
- Rating prompt: the Game occasionally uses Apple’s standard prompt to ask you to rate it. Your rating and review go to Apple, not to us through the Game.
- Developer reports: Apple gives us sales reports, which do not include your name or payment details. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also give us crash reports and usage statistics about the Game.
See the Apple Privacy Policy.
3.3 Google
On Android:
- Google Play purchases are made and paid for through Google. We never receive your name, payment details, or Google account information. The Game receives only confirmation of whether you own the full version.
- Google Play Games backup: the Game signs you in to Google Play Games and backs up your saved games, progress, and settings to your own Play Games account so that you can restore them on a new device. This data is stored privately in your account, and we cannot access, read, or delete it.
- Rating prompt: the Game occasionally uses Google’s standard in-app review prompt. Your rating and review go to Google, not to us through the Game.
- Developer reports: Google gives us sales reports, which do not include your name or payment details. If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostics information with Google, Google may also give us crash reports and performance statistics about the Game.
See the Google Privacy Policy.
3.4 Cloud backup settings
Backup is on by default. You can turn it off at any time in the Game’s settings, and the Game then stops sending data to your cloud account. Turning backup off does not delete what is already backed up. You can delete that through your iCloud or Google Play Games account settings.
3.5 Email
Emails to us pass through our email provider.
4. How we use and share information
We use information only for the purposes described in section 2. We never use it for advertising or marketing, we never sell it, and we never share it for advertising.
We share information only with the service providers described in section 3, and when the law requires it.
5. International transfers
Unity, Apple, Google, and our email provider may store and process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers are protected by the providers’ data protection terms.
6. How long we keep information
- Crash reports: deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Purchase records: Unity keeps them for as long as it needs them to run the purchase service for the Game. It keeps the store’s transaction ID only in a scrambled (hashed) form, used to make sure the same purchase is not processed twice.
- Emails: deleted once we have dealt with your report or request.
- Information on your device and in your cloud account: kept until you delete it or uninstall the Game, as described in sections 2.4 and 3.4.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to object to or restrict how it is used, and to receive a copy of it. To use any of these rights, email us at support@blazingiron.software.
To have your crash reports or purchase records deleted, email us the installation ID from the bottom of the Game’s About page (see section 2.5). We need it to find your information, because it is not linked to your name or email address. We delete crash reports ourselves, and pass requests about purchase records to Unity, which deletes them by hand. Deleting purchase records does not remove your purchase: your store account still shows that you own the full version.
Information held by Apple or Google about your account, purchases, or backups is managed through your Apple or Google account, under their privacy policies.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You can also lodge a complaint with your local privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner in Australia, or your data protection authority in the European Union or the United Kingdom.
8. Security
Information the Game sends to Unity is encrypted in transit. We limit access to crash reports, purchase records, and emails to the people who need them to support the Game.
9. Children
The Game is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children. It does not ask for personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and it treats every player’s information in the same way as described in this policy.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the updated version on our website and update the date at the top. Major changes will also be noted in the Game’s patch notes.
